2019 Chinese Study Tour-Cultural Exchange between Chinese and Western Campus

Guests from the Energy Garden Farm in Australia, John Hayward, Mr. Zheng Hai and their families, arrived at Panyu Zhixin Middle School on Monday morning. John and his family are from Australia, it is a family who are willing to accept new things and  deeply interested in foreign cultures, especially Chinese culture. Mr. Zheng Hai's family have settled in Australia for many years. At this trip, John's grandson Troy and Mr. Zheng Hai's son Tawrence will participate in a two weeks Chinese study tour at Panyu Zhixin and Nanhai Zhixin School. This Chinese study tour is a platform provided by the International Office for overseas school age children to experience and review Chinese culture. The purpose is to get the overseas Chinese students to enhance their Chinese language learning and communication skills, deepen their Chinese cultural background, as well as to experience Chinese campus life and taste the Cantonese culture and cuisine.

After arrival, the guests firstly met the headmaster Zhang Xiongji at the main entrance, then went on a campus tour with colleagues from the International Office. Guests experienced the comprehensive courses of students, such as trampoline and rock climbing, they also had fun with the animals in the bio park. Tawrence goes to school at Sydney Grammar, one of the Australia ’s top private school, even so, the diversity of courses and facilities have lit his eyes up.




The guests and headmaster Zhang watched the video of Freshman Experience Week and the celebration of the 70th national anniversary in the meeting room together. From the kids we met during the campus tour to the kids in the video, John said that the their smile was deeply imprinted in his heart. Afterward, headmaster Zhang also briefly introduced China's education system and shared his experience in education research.


At the end of the visit, John and Tricia had an interview with our little journalist.

Q:This is your first time to China. How do you feel about China so far?
Tricia:I have been loving my trip to China, I’ve travelled up north to Beijing and the Great Wall and had a great time up there. Temperature is nice down here, a little bit warmer.

Q:How do you think of our school compare to the private schools in Sydney?
Tricia:This school is absolutely beautiful, very lucky to have a school like this it’s very nice.

Q:I know you have been to China many times. Can you tell me what do you enjoy the most here?
John:The people, people are very friendly and warm and welcoming.

Q:What do you expect from Troy at the end of this journey?
John:To see Troy, my grandson, prosper. And get to experience soccer in China.
