Pan Jiajun, author of the well known painting "I am Haiyan", settled his new oil painting "Sun Yat-sen to the south guarded by Zhu Zhixin " in Guangzhou Panyu Zhixin School. At the opening ceremony of the work, professor Pan Jiajun said in a media interview that aesthetic education is an important part of school education and a symbol of a civilized and progressive society. He also shared with teachers and students the historical background behind the painting.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Zhu Zhixin’s martyrdom, next year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of Guangzhou Zhixin School and the 20th anniversary of the founding of Panyu Zhixin School. In order to let students further understand the spirit of Zhixin, Panyu Zhixin School invited professor Pan Jiajun to create an oil painting to commemorate Zhu Zhixin. In the painting, Mr. Zhu Zhixin is holding a telescope and standing behind Mr. Sun Yat-sen, the fearless of the gentlemen can be felt. The sky is shrouded by dark clouds but there are shreds of light went through, which truly highlights the hardships and obstacles on the revolutionary road but, with hope. Pan Jiajun said that if everyone got this concept when looking at it, then the goal is achieved. As an artist, you must express your thoughts, emotions and life experience through your works.

"Aesthetic education is indispensable in schools." In Pan Jiajun's eyes, aesthetic education is not only art, but also music, poetry and drama etc. Aesthetic education is not for cultivating artists and musicians, but for cultivating everyone’s pursuit of beauty, improve their aesthetic vision. " Whether this society can progress and whether the quality of the entire nation can be improved is related to aesthetic education."

When talking about suggestions for children learning to paint, Pan Jiajun said, "I think they should paint in a way they like for building up interests, and then slowly build up their aesthetics. Don't be vulgar, but move towards health and elegance. As for some children are sent to have art tests, this is a social ethos that parents want the kids to collect different certifications just in case they are not academic enough in the future. This is not completely bad, but it is a bit off." Pan Jiajun believes that we should return to the essence of painting, which is to enhance our life taste and make life more fulfilling.
